Water Source and Plant Sample Information

The water I used for my MicroAquarium came from Tommy Schumpert Pond in Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge in Knoxville, Tennessee

Plant A:
Amblystegium varium. Moss. Collection from: Natural spring. Fountain City Park.

Plant B:
Utricularia vulgaris L. Flowering Plant. A carnivous plant. Collection from: Greenhouse in White Ave Biology Annex. The University of Tennessee.

Week 3 Observations

The tank looks completely different this week. I think these differences are due primarily to the food pellet added to the Micro Aquarium. The organisms are much more active and seem to have multiplied since last week. There is more life throughout the aquarium. I have also noticed many new organisims.

Week 2 Observations

The organisms have continued to show movement. The soil at the bottom of the MicroAquarium has begun to show that it is housing more organisms.

Week 1 Observations

My first observations of the MicroAquarium were interesting. There were several organisms present, all of different shapes and sizes. Most of these organisms were moving. One organism in particular had a long, thin shape and stayed mostly close to the soil near the bottom. These long organisms didn't exhibit much movement. Another organism, small and oval in shape was swimming through the water at a rapid pace. Still, another organism, similiar in shape to the oval organism was spinning in circles but not moving throughout the solution.

Setting Up The MicroAquarium

During the initial setup of my MicroAquarium, I used watersource 1 and added samples from both Plant A and Plant B.
